A team of Family Africa members, teenagers, and young volunteers embarked on a trip through the arid landscape of three deserts: the Karoo, the Namib, and the Kalahari, with a mission to make a difference in the lives of other young people.
In Cape Town, the team were involved in a parenting seminar, held a mini youth camp and then travelled up through the Namib to Windhoek, Namibia.
In Namibia, the team conducted HIV/AIDS programmes at three secondary schools, where they received a tremendous response. The programme included music and drama, audience participation, a clear life-changing message about not only protecting yourself, but also how to respond to others who are HIV positive.
From feedback we received the trip made a definite difference in the lives of hundreds of teenagers and the schools in Namibia are clamouring for more.
